LayerZero
2023
October 26: Deployment on Telos mainnet
- Telos is an EVM compatible Layer 1 blockchain with considerable throughput, processing over 15,000 transactions per second, and fixed gas costs.
September 12: Google Cloud Oracle launched
- The Google Cloud oracle is a purpose-built verifier that is available today to all LayerZero applications and will be configured as the default as of September 19th.
- What this means is that by default every message within LayerZero will leverage the secure infrastructure run by one of the most security-minded organizations in the entire world.

July 6: Deployment on Meter IO
June 14: Deployment on Scroll ZKP
June 8: Deployment on Arbitrum Nova
May 31: LayerZero rolls outs a production-grade zk light client from the PolyhedraZK team.
- The PolyhedraZK team’s zkLightClient is based on their renowned work on ZKP. Built exclusively on LayerZero, its custom circuits produce significant compression and allow multiple tx verifications to be batched into a single zero-knowledge proof.
May 30: Deployment on Tenet announced.
- Tenet is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain focused on DeFi.
May 26: Deployment on Canto announced.
April 27: Deployment on zkSync Era mainnet announced.
April 26: Deployment on Polygon zkEVM announced.
March 11: Deployment on Gnosis Chain announced.
March 10: Deployment on Base announced.
- A new Ethereum L2, incubated by Coinbase and built on the open-source OP Stack.
February 21: Testnet Bridge introduced.
- Created an open market for immediate pricing of ETH/GOERLI-ETH.
- The initial price of Goerli-ETH is set to $0.10 and the pool is seeded with 12,500 Goerli-ETH. These pools are open and hosted on Uniswap on both Ethereum and Goerli.
January 26: Integration with Pudgy Penguins.
- Pudgys can now spread their vision to other ecosystems, starting with Arbitrum, Polygon, and BNB Chain.
- This partnership sets the grounds for the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem to grow, and opens up exciting opportunities for the road ahead.
2022
December 13: Integration with PancakeSwap.
- PancakeSwap launches Aptos PancakeBridge.
- A partnership with LayerZero to offer PancakeSwap users the same easy-to-use and low-fee bridging experience between BNB Smart Chain and Aptos.
November 30: Chainlink Oracles integration.
- Omnichain dApps will have the option to receive strong uptime and tamper-proof guarantees when relaying block header data between blockchain.
October 19: Integration with Aptos.
- LayerZero– the protocol– and The Aptos Bridge by LayerZero go live.
- Users will be able to move USDC, USDT, and ETH into Aptos from Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Polygon, and BNB Chain.
- $2m bug bounty announced, based on deployments into the Aptos ecosystem.
September 7: Summer Update.
- Pre-Crime, which has actually been live since May, is opened up to all applications and allows developers to define their own custom security guarantees by setting their own invariants for all messaging.
- LayerZero Scan was introduced, which allows both developers and users to tie together two transactions across chains and pull state, status, and timing in one interface.
- ULNv2 Upgrade, which contains required support for upcoming non-EVM supported chains, LayerZero Scan, over 20% improvement in gas efficiency, and patches a ULNv1 security issue related to potential chain pathway griefing.
- Expansion to four new mainnets: Moonbeam, Harmony, Swimmer, and DFK.
- LayerZero is also live on eight other pre-launch chain testnets. It will be live on the mainnet launch for all of them, including the first non-EVMs: Aptos, Sui, and Solana.
September 7: ULNv1 Deprecation.
- An anonymous group of whitehat security researchers reached out to the LayerZero team and reported an issue regarding the potential griefing of applications by blocking messaging chain paths.
- They were awarded a bounty of $250k.
August 5: Integration with Angle Protocol.
- Angle is an over-collateralized, decentralized, and capital-efficient stablecoin protocol.
- Angle’s agEUR holders can now seamlessly and easily move agEUR across Ethereum, Polygon, Optimism, and Arbitrum without ever leaving the Angle web interface.
April 2: Security updates announced.
- A bug bounty was announced with a top award of $15m.
- Migrated all EOAs to multisigs for Stargate and LayerZero.
- Worked with some of the best security experts in the world to deploy improved and more secure validation libraries
- Begun the process of moving Stargate to a separate multisig and will be working with the community on a process to elect who those multisig key holders are.
April 2: Pre-Crime feature introduced.
- Pre-Crime is the ability of a relayer to stop a hack before it happens.
- Pre-Crime is achieved by forking a destination blockchain before the delivery of a message and running the transaction locally. After running the transaction, Pre-Crime can check the state of the blockchain in relation to the other connected blockchains to verify no malicious action occurred.
- These malicious states are defined by the User Application (UA) and enforced by the relayer.
March 15: Beta launches.
- The beta is live on Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon, BNB Chain, Fantom, Arbitrum, and Optimism.
- Solana, Terra, Cosmos Hub, and Osmosis in 6–8 weeks and LayerZero to be everywhere in 4–6 months.
- Stargate will be the first bridge to launch on top of LayerZero in 2 days.
March 15: 0xMaki joins the team full-time.
- 0xMaki has multiple advisor roles in other projects and is part of DCV Capital, a collective of angel investors.
